Minutes of Monterey Cultural Council Meeting

Members Present: Joe Baker, Susan Johnson, Joel Schick, Julie Shapiro, Maureen Banner, Debra Mielke
Purpose of Meeting: grants cycle business meeting, and other business as necessary
We again went through all 28 applications that we received this year and discussed our preliminary decisions and funding levels. Reaching agreement on which applications to fund, we then finalized the amount for each. The totals are: 15 grants awarded totalling $3,000. Of these, 4 are for school system related programs, 4 are for the Monterey Library, and 7 are community benefit awards. 2 of the rejected applications will be fully funded directly by us from our town allocation for their events, and one of the approved applications will have its partial funding completed similarly.
We will meet at 8:30 am on Nov 30 to create and mail the acceptance and rejection packets.
We briefly discussed a series of events for the winter, dates to be established.
Tentatively:
January, pastel workshop;
February, Buck Expeditions presentation;
March, Hootenanny;
April, Music and dance of Bali.
Joe and Deb will make phone calls to arrange dates.
We set the next meeting for Wed, Dec 7 at 1:00 to finalize the winter schedule.
